Local Trade Copier 3.1.8 for MT4 and MT5 Adds Minimum-Lot Protection for Prop Trading Accounts

Local Trade Copier 3.1.8: faster copying, MT5 netting and FIFO, min-lot protection

Dubai, UAE – October 22, 2026 – Rimantas Petrauskas, founder of Local Trade Copier, has announced the worldwide release of Local Trade Copier 3.1.8 for MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5, developed by Algonexis Technologies. The new version adds a safety limit that stops the trade copier from opening positions far larger than intended on small accounts. This addresses a common risk in prop trading, where one oversized copied trade can breach a prop firm’s daily loss limit and end a funded account. The update also brings full support for MT5 netting accounts and US FIFO accounts, plus faster copying on large multi-account setups.

Local Trade Copier copies trades between MT4 and MT5 accounts on the trader’s own computer or VPS, without routing trades through a cloud service. Forex traders, prop firm traders, money managers and signal providers use it to run several accounts from one master account. Version 3.1.8 is the first public release since version 3.1.0, so it also includes several months of speed and reliability improvements.

A Safety Limit for Small and Prop Firm Accounts

When a trade copier scales a master trade down to a smaller account, the calculated lot size can fall below the broker’s minimum lot. Earlier versions of Local Trade Copier opened the minimum lot in that case. On a small account, that could mean several times the risk the trader had set.

Version 3.1.8 introduces a new setting, MaxMinLotUpsize, with a default value of 2.0. LTC Client now rounds a trade up to the broker’s minimum lot only if the result is no more than twice the calculated size. If a larger increase would be needed, the trade is not copied. An ATTENTION message appears in the MetaTrader Experts tab, and an alert pops up once per symbol. Traders who prefer the previous behaviour can set the value to 0.

“Most trade copier users copy one strategy to accounts of very different sizes, often a large master account and a small prop firm challenge,” said Rimantas Petrauskas, founder of Local Trade Copier. “On those small accounts, rounding up to the minimum lot could quietly double or triple the risk. The new limit makes that decision visible instead of automatic.”

Full Support for MT5 Netting and US FIFO Accounts

MetaTrader 5 offers two account types: hedging, which allows several positions per symbol, and netting, which combines all trades on a symbol into one position. With version 3.1.8, copied positions on MT5 netting client accounts follow the master account’s full closes, partial closes, Stop Loss and Take Profit. A netting position takes its Stop Loss and Take Profit from the most recent master trade on that symbol.

US brokers apply FIFO (first in, first out) rules, which require the oldest position on a symbol to be closed first. On FIFO accounts, a master trade closed with “Close By” is now closed on the client account as well. Copied pending orders now move when the master moves them.

Faster Copying on Large Multi-Account Setups

Because version 3.1.8 carries all changes made since version 3.1.0, setups that run for weeks without a restart, or copy from many master accounts, become noticeably faster. Old closed-trade files used to accumulate and be re-read on every copying cycle. They are now cleaned up automatically, and an existing backlog is cleared in the background. Automatic symbol mapping is also faster on brokers that list thousands of symbols, including hidden symbols that are not shown in Market Watch.

The release also limits how often the copier changes a trade: each copied trade is modified at most once every 5 seconds and no more than 60 times per hour. This prevents a trade copier from flooding a broker with modification requests, which some brokers treat as abusive.

“A trade copier often runs for months on a VPS without anyone watching it,” Petrauskas said. “Much of the work in this release went into keeping it just as fast and predictable after six months as on the first day.”

Other Changes in Local Trade Copier 3.1.8

  • When the master partially closes a trade whose copy is already at the minimum lot, the copy stays open and is closed when the master closes the rest.
  • Partial closes made on the master while LTC Client was not running are applied when it starts again.
  • Automatic symbol mapping for stock indices no longer selects share CFDs, ETFs or dated futures contracts, and it recognizes more Nasdaq 100 names, such as USTECH, NDX100 and NQ100.
  • Pending orders with a short expiration that the client’s broker rejects are placed without an expiration and removed when the master order expires.
  • On MT5, the broker’s own reason is shown when a trade cannot be opened.
  • Stop Loss and Take Profit are set reliably on new MT5 trades, and trades with very large MT5 ticket numbers are copied correctly to MT4 accounts.
  • Manual trades are never treated as copies, and the “Close all” function no longer gets stuck.
  • A new CustomPointSizes setting supports symbols whose broker point size does not suit point-based settings.

Availability and Upgrade Notes

Local Trade Copier 3.1.8 is available now for MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5. LTC Server and LTC Client 3.1.x are compatible, so existing users can update them separately. Almost all fixes in this version are in LTC Client.

Users who update LTC Server should re-enter its Stop Loss and Take Profit override and Emergency Stop Loss values in points instead of pips, because old pip values are not carried over. On most 5-digit forex brokers, 1 pip equals 10 points.

The full list of changes is available in the Local Trade Copier 3.1.8 release notes and the Local Trade Copier changelog. A step-by-step configuration guide for copying trades between MT4 and MT5 is available on FxMagnetic.
